Your money.
Your moments.
One app. Share a moment. Skip typing star-one-eight-two.

Skip typing *182*. We start your carrier’s USSD — MTN or Airtel still move the money. Share moments with people around you. Eligible creators earn when brands show up.

What is Ikofi

One home screen. Two jobs.

Ikofi started as a calmer way to use the USSD you already have with MTN and Airtel — we don’t hold your cash. It is now also where people share moments, and where brands meet them.

Moments on top

Share a moment. Watch Rwanda.

Photo and video moments live for 24 hours. Follow people you know, then find new voices on Trending and For You. Mid-roll ads sit between those moments — that is how creators get paid.

Money underneath

Skip the codes. Your carrier still pays.

Enter who and how much. We launch *182* (or Airtel’s equivalent) so you don’t type the menu. MTN or Airtel still processes the send, the merchant pay, and the airtime. We help you budget, split, track loans, and keep a shopping list on the same home.

Moments

Moments that last a day. Discovery that lasts.

Post a photo or a short video from Home. It stays live for 24 hours. People you follow show up as rings; Discover, Trending, and For You put you in front of people who don’t follow you yet.

  • Your moment — camera or gallery, add text if you want
  • Watch friends, then swipe into the next creator
  • Sponsored slides between moments — skippable after a few seconds

Money

USSD without the typing.

Ikofi does not process Mobile Money. You enter the number and the amount; we start the MTN or Airtel USSD your operator already uses. They move the money. You still confirm with their PIN.

Send & pay

Enter a Rwandan number or merchant code and the amount. We launch the MTN or Airtel USSD — the carrier still completes the send.

Airtime

Enter who to top up and the amount. We start the carrier USSD; MTN or Airtel still delivers the airtime.

Smart budget

See where money goes with categories and insights that actually help you decide.

Split expenses

Share bills fairly — track who owes what, then settle through your carrier’s USSD, not an Ikofi wallet.

Loan tracker

Stay ahead of repayments with balances, due dates, and progress in one place.

Shopping list

Plan purchases next to your spend history so shopping stays intentional.

Refer and Earn. Invite friends with your code. You earn RWF when they join and complete carrier transactions — paid to your MoMo, not taken from an Ikofi cash wallet.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers — for anything else, email us at team@ikofi.app.

What is Ikofi?
Ikofi is a Rwanda-first app for moments and money tools. Share 24-hour moments, follow people, and discover creators. For Mobile Money, we sit on top of MTN and Airtel USSD: you pick send, pay a merchant, or buy airtime, enter the number and amount, and we start the carrier code so you do not type *182*1*1*…. Your operator still moves the money. We also help you budget, split bills, track loans, and keep a shopping list.
Does Ikofi process or hold my money?
No. Ikofi is not a bank, not a mobile-money operator, and not a wallet that holds your cash. We do not receive, store, or transfer your MoMo balance. When you confirm a send, merchant pay, or airtime top-up, the transaction is completed by MTN or Airtel through their USSD (and their PIN, fees, and limits). We only make that USSD easier to start, and we can keep a history in the app so you can budget.
How do I get the Ikofi app?
Download Ikofi on Android or iOS. Search for “Ikofi” in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, install it, then sign up with your phone number. You’ll verify that line — the same one you already use with MTN MoMo or Airtel Money. Ikofi does not open a new cash wallet of its own.
What are Moments?
Moments are photos and short videos you post from Home. They stay live for 24 hours. People you follow show up as rings; Discover, Trending, and For You help you find creators you don’t follow yet.
Do I get paid for posting moments?
Not automatically. Ads can appear while people watch moments. Eligible creators earn 50% of mid-roll ads that run during their moments. Unlocking that share means you’re 18+, you grow an audience, you post consistently, and you have a Rwanda MoMo number on your profile. Bars can change — the Creator Hub in the app shows where you stand. Payouts are scheduled to MoMo once you reach the threshold; they are not instant.
Will I see ads?
Yes. Sponsored slides can appear between moments, and banners can show on money screens like Home, Send, and Budget. That’s how brands reach people on Ikofi — and how eligible creators earn.
Do I still need to type *182* and all those USSD steps?
That’s what Ikofi removes from day-to-day. You pick send, pay a merchant, or buy airtime in the app, enter the number and amount, and we launch the USSD your carrier already uses. You’re not punching *182*1*1*… on the dial pad. The carrier still processes the payment.
Does Ikofi work with MTN and Airtel?
The USSD shortcuts we launch are built for Rwanda Mobile Money — MTN MoMo and Airtel Money. What the carrier will complete can still vary by operator and product. Install the app, sign in with your number, and check what’s available before you confirm on the operator prompt.
Is my money safe when I use Ikofi?
Your money never sits with Ikofi. You confirm on your phone the same way Mobile Money already works — operator PIN, prompts, and their rules. We only sit in front of the messy USSD typing. Keep your phone locked, don’t share your PIN, and only confirm transactions you recognise.
Does Ikofi charge fees?
Ikofi is free to download and free to use — no Ikofi service fees or subscriptions for the consumer app. When your carrier completes a send, merchant pay, or airtime top-up, they may still apply their own network fees (the same ones you’d see if you dialled USSD yourself). Those charges come from the operator, not from Ikofi. Creator and referral payouts (ad-share rewards paid to your MoMo number, not your everyday sends) may subtract a small transfer fee shown in the app.
Can I start a send without internet?
To launch the USSD from the app, your phone typically needs a working connection so Ikofi can open the right carrier flow. The send itself is still completed by MTN or Airtel. You might still open parts of the app offline to read past info, but don’t rely on starting a live USSD action without connectivity.
