Your operator’s short codes are powerful — but they’re painful to type. Ikofi maps your intent to the right sequence so you can focus on people and purchases, not star keys.

How do I get the Ikofi app?
Download Ikofi on Android or iOS. Open the Google Play Store or Apple App Store on your phone, search for “Ikofi”, and install it like any other app. After it’s installed, you’ll sign up with your phone number and follow the steps to verify your line and connect mobile money — the same number you use with your operator’s mobile money service is the one Ikofi is built around.
Is my phone number connected to the app?
Yes. Ikofi is tied to your mobile number on purpose: that’s how mobile money knows who you are, and it’s how we keep sends, payments, and history matched to your real line. When you register, you verify that number so only you can act on that wallet flow from your device. If you change numbers or SIMs later, you’ll follow in-app or support guidance so your account stays secure.
Do I still need to type *182* and all those USSD steps?
That’s exactly what Ikofi removes from your day-to-day. Instead of memorising short codes and menu paths, you pick what you want to do in the app — send money, pay a merchant, buy airtime, and more — enter the recipient and amount (and anything else the flow asks for), and Ikofi handles the USSD side behind the scenes where your operator supports it. You’re not punching *182*1*1*… on the dial pad every time.
What can I use Ikofi for besides sending money?
Ikofi is built around mobile money flows you already rely on: sending to friends and family, paying merchants, and topping up airtime — without the friction of manual USSD strings. On top of that, Ikofi includes tools that help you stay organised: Smart budget so you can see where money goes, Split expenses when you share costs with others, Loan tracker so repayments stay visible, and a Shopping list so planned spending sits next to your balance. The mix is meant to cover both “move money now” and “stay in control over time.”
Will Ikofi work with my SIM and mobile money network?
Ikofi depends on integrations with mobile money operators in your market. What you can do — and which menus we can drive on your behalf — can vary by country, operator, and product. The reliable way to know for your line is to install the app, sign in with your number, and check what’s available for your wallet. If something isn’t supported yet for your network, the app should make that clear before you commit to a payment.
Can I pay a shop or buy airtime from Ikofi?
Yes — those are core use cases. You can pay merchants and buy airtime through the flows Ikofi exposes, using the same idea: you choose the action in the app, fill in what’s needed (who to pay, how much, airtime amount, etc.), and confirm on your device. You’re not re-typing long USSD trees for each type of payment.
Is my money safe when I use Ikofi?
Ikofi is designed so sensitive steps happen on your phone with your involvement — you confirm sends and payments in line with how mobile money already protects you (PIN, prompts, and your operator’s rules). We don’t replace your operator’s core security; we sit in front of the messy USSD typing so the experience is clearer. Always keep your phone locked, don’t share your mobile money PIN, and only confirm transactions you recognise.
Does Ikofi charge fees?
Ikofi is free to download and free to use — we don’t charge you any Ikofi service fees, subscriptions, or hidden costs for using the app. When you send money, pay a merchant, or buy airtime, your mobile money operator may still apply their own network fees (the same ones you’d see if you used USSD directly). Those charges come from the operator, not from Ikofi.
Can I send money without internet or mobile data?
To complete a live mobile money action (send, pay, airtime, etc.), your phone needs a working data connection so the app can talk to services and your operator flow can finish. You might still open parts of the app offline to read past info, but moving money isn’t something to rely on without connectivity.
